From the Blurb:

New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh's new contemporary romance novella is pure hard rock and scorching heat...

What happens when the Gentleman of Rock decides to play dirty?

A drummer for the hottest rock band on the planet, David has a single, powerful weakness: Thea, the band's publicist and the woman who steals his breath away with her every move.

Only problem is, Thea doesn't date clients--or musicians. Emotionally scarred by a cheating ex, she's not about to risk her heart with a man who has groupies buzzing around him like flies. Even if his sexy smile ties her up in knots.

What she doesn't know is that David is a one-woman man...and he's madly in love with her. David's determined to prove he's worth the risk, and willing to court her, step by exquisite step. Thea's about to discover just how long and hard this handsome drummer can play.

The Review:

David is a a hot as hell rock star who could have just about any woman he wants, except his publicist Thea, who doesn't date clients. Of course, he doesn't want anyone but Thea, has been wanting her since they met, and he's determined to make her see that some things are more important than work, even if it means writing her a few memos.

Somehow this is my first Nalini Singh romance. I've had a number of her paranormal novels on my Kindle for an age, but somehow never got round to reading them, and I totally need to remedy that!

As a quick taster into her contemporary style, I really enjoyed Rock Courtship. I love David! He's so sweet and possessive and adorable and funny. Apparently the shy member of the band, he's prone to blushing (which just made me melt), but he's a smoother talker than his shyness might imply, at least when it comes to telling Thea how much he loves her.

Unfortunately, Thea is emotionally damaged as a result of her ex, and completely driven by work, so David has a bit of work to do himself, in order to convince her that dating him would be a good idea. On the advice of her sister, David sends Thea memos outlining why she should date him and OMG they are so brilliant! I laughed and swooned and wondered why the hell my email inbox was so boring by comparison. I admit to being a little unconvinced that a memo might bring Thea to orgasm, but... *shrugs* I'll go with it.

Family is a big theme in this story, with both David and Thea being completely devoted to their families, who are equally developed as the story goes on - and despite coming from different worlds, they're both the picture of loving families. So in that way, this story has a very sweet vibe.

But it's also extremely sexy. *fans self* Thea's memo induced orgasm is only the beginning, as once they get together, this novella is sexy hot sex and more sex.

This certainly wasn't a perfect novella, with a few too many time jumps for my liking and perhaps not quite enough conflict between David and Thea, who for much of the story were just completely in love. However, it was a really great combination of sexy and sweet romance that you just have to read in a sitting! I can't wait to read more of Nalini Singh's work.

Rock Courtship by Nalini Singh is a contemporary romance, released on September 30, 2014.
