From the Blurb:
Torn between two men…
When I woke up after the accident, I couldn’t remember anything from the last year—including my relationship with Max Hallowell or anything about Nate Crane. Now my memories are returning, but instead of answering my questions, they’re leaving me with more.
The man who broke my heart and wants to be my future…
Max is all I ever wanted, and now he wants to marry me. He’ll do everything he can to fill my life with love, family, and security. I need those things now more than ever. But can I trust him?
The man who stole my heart and wants to let me go…
Nate never made me promises, and I never asked him to. I’d been on the rebound, looking for a distraction, and he made me feel beautiful and wanted when I needed to feel those things most. He says he has to let me go, but what if I can’t let go of him?
With every revelation and every passing day, I feel more like Alice down the rabbit hole. I’m falling. Who will catch me?
Fall to You is the second book in the Here and Now series. It is not a stand-alone and is intended to be read following Lost in Me. Hanna’s story concludes in book three, All for This.
The Review:
This review contains spoilers for Here and Now Book 1, Lost in Me. You can find my review of Lost in Me here.
Having lost her memory
after an accident, Hanna is still recovering memories and trying to put her
life back together. She’s torn between two men, her long time crush Max and
rock star Nate, and as her memories start to return, sorting out her life and
loves isn’t getting any easier.
Fall to You follows straight on from Lost in
Me without a beat. Just as we had begun to uncover some of Hanna’s lost
memories at the end of Book 1, Fall to
You begins with a series of events from prior to the accident. While the
memories in Book 1 were drip fed to us slowly, in Book 2 we really get to
learn much more of Hanna’s past, which is becoming less and less of a mystery.
We also get a lot more of this past from Max and Nate’s perspectives, which
really affects the way Hanna’s story is seeming to unfold and the way both
these characters fit into her life, which comes as quite a relief at this point. Book 2 is still fraught with mystery and
confusion, though, not to mention a whole lot of events that make this review
really hard without too many spoilers!
Of course, we ended
Book 1 with the revelation that sweet, virginal Hannah is actually pregnant, so
much of this book involves the revelations surrounding that particular
discovery, but the real discoveries lie in our increasing understanding of Max’s
perspective in this whole story. I have to admit, I really disliked Max in the
first book and even feared he might have some sinister side. However, in Book
2, Lexi Ryan explores Max’s motivations and shows us that he definitely has a
hero role to play in this series. I really appreciate the way the characters in this series, Hanna, Nate, Max and even Hanna's twin sister, develop as the series progresses. It's really convincing and makes the dramatic plot more enjoyable.
Despite Max's character development, I’m still
100% #TeamNate. No matter Hanna’s doubts, there’s no competition for me between
Max and Nate – the sexy rock star, who just wants to be a good dad, but also
shows Hanna how special she is right from the start. We also get a lot more
understanding of Hanna and Nate’s past, and these were some of my favorite aspects of the story.
My only complaint about this novel is similar to my feelings at the end of Book 1, though to a lesser extent. Some of the jumping from past to the present can be a little jarring, especially when we are so desperate to find out what's going to happen. That said, it worked a lot better in this book, with longer sections in the past or present, providing a clearer picture of the whole story. By the end of Book 2, we seem to know most every thing from before the accident, except, of course, the dreaded few days prior to the accident, so I'm looking forward to all this being consolidated in Book 3.

While coming to
understand our heroes Nate and Max a whole lot more is a big factor in Book 2, this book is just as full of heart stopping
revelations and plot twists as Book 1. Fans of Lost in Me will not be disappointed with
the sequel which is just as compelling. Of course, Fall to
You also ends on a cliffhanger. ARGH!
